People who suffer from anxiety disorder are amazing! I am sure that many of you are ashamed by your disorder, you feel awkward and you feel like you don't fit in the picture. Your colleagues don't understand you, hell, even your family it's kinda distant from you. I am here to tell you why you shouldn't. We are not in middle ages anymore, psychology is developing for more than 100 years now and Mental disorders are not such a tabu. Let us end the stigma together. The best way to do it is to understand ourselves better and to learn our value. Love yourself as you are!
Here are 17 interesting facts about anxiety :

1. In 2017 from Anxiety disorder suffered more than 284 million people in the world. That was exactly 3.8% of the population on the Earth back then. If you feel lonely just remember that there is a big chance someone close to you has the same problem.





2. Women are twice as likely to be affected as men. Which is weird, if you ask me because we are the stronger half.






3. From a psychological point of view, Anxiety is the easiest treatable disorder, yet only around 1/3 of the affected people search for help.

4. There are many factors in the process of developing an Anxiety disorder, including genetics, brain chemistry, personality, life event, childhood and etc.

5. Anxiety has a genetic basis. Research from 2014 found out a specific gene related to Anxiety disorder and Panic disorder. That means that if one of your parents, or both of them, have it, it's highly likely for you to suffer from it, also.

6. According to ADAA, 36% of people with social Anxiety disorder, experience symptoms 10 years before they seek help.

7. 25% of children between 13 and 18 years old have an Anxiety disorder.

8. Because of the 'fight or flight' response in the human body, your Anxiety causes you real physical pain. This biological reaction is called psychosomatic. And this is one of the reasons for Hypochondria to be so closely related to Anxiety disorder. Some of the symptoms are headache, nausea, dizziness, muscle pain and twitching, sweating and many more. 



9. Anxiety can confuse the sense of smell. According to The Jurnal of Neuroscience, people with Anxiety tend to label neutral smells as bad.

10. People with Anxiety are quicker to pick up on changes in facial expression, but they are less accurate.

11. Anxious people need more personal space, British researchers found. We all have personal space surrounding us, which is around 20-40 centimeters. For those ones, who suffer from any kind of Anxiety disorder this space tend to be larger.





12. People who suffer from Anxiety disorder have a higher IQ and better imagination.

13. People with Anxiety disorder often have lower self-esteem and believe that they are not very likable. But according to new research, they are perceived as Fabolous. This is possible due to the sensitivity they display.

14. About half of the diagnosed with an Anxiety disorder also have depression.

15. There are 6 variations of Anxiety disorder. These are a generalised Anxiety disorder, OCD, different phobias, PTSD, Social Anxiety and panic disorder.

16. Anxiety can be triggered by tremendous stress or traumatic life events.
